A sampling of vision maps, known as Vision, Strategy, Objectives, and Measurements (VSOM) plans, is used to obtain a clear and agreed definition of the vision – the outcome that the organization aims for as a business change.

For a vision to be meaningful, it must be disseminated in a meaningful and measurable way to all parties – not just involved in changing the business itself, but affected. Defining the vision is one of the first tasks and may be the most important task in the design process as it is (and is) the single focus point of every business transformation.

The VSOM master plan provides an overview of the vision, broken down into strategy(s), objectives, and measures. Creating a VSOM Blueprint is an effective planning process that helps define the vision and methods used to measure success.

One focus of organization and business transformation. It is defined in terms of what the ‘end state’ looks like. It is usually a desire for what the organization wants to be in the future. It talks about ‘Why business in business? Question

Options available to implement the idea. They are the ‘methods’ or ‘methods’ in which the organization will seek to achieve the vision, eg. Resume engineering business; Replace old IT systems with flexible technology solutions and data platforms’

Results must be achieved with skill. This is how the ‘what’ result the business aims to achieve. Strong goals follow the S.T.A.R goal format – specific, time-bound, achievable and realistic, e.g. ‘The termination [within the area] of the legacy system (at the end of Q1 2017); Share IT components across the organization (end of first quarter 2017)’

Outcome indicators, strategies and goals are used to measure success or progress towards a vision. It is usually represented by key performance indicators (KPI’s) or metrics. Measures are quantitative versus qualitative and are used to determine precisely when a KPI/metric is met or there is a risk of non-compliance, e.g. ‘The legacy system was closed on time, 100% of the data transferred without error, 100% of the components shared during the closing of the project.

A VSOM map has its place and that’s a starting point (after getting an agreed SoW of work, of course). What usually happens is a ‘20,000 foot’ high vision statement stuck on the wall, but it doesn’t make sense. The success of “XYZ’s best company” means a lot to different people. The VSOM map defines the Vision Statement for how it will be implemented and what success looks like, so everyone is on the same page from day one. That’s why this master plan was included ® at the beginning of the business transformation and editable template. The rest is complete and everything else.

Do you want to make your business transformation focused on the #1 needs from the beginning? Find the tools used to create a vision map of how you will achieve it, by what and when! Competence is a vague word that means different things to different people. Sometimes confused with analysis. This includes everything from market sizing to technical analysis to financial forecasting.

On the other hand, planning is linked to planning. You may have seen annual planning backfire in your organization where leaders spend days creating plans that quickly become outdated.

Analysis and planning, while the inputs and outputs necessary for planning are not the core of planning. You can’t analyze your approach to strategy. And detailed roadmaps don’t justify the activities they facilitate. Tricks to do.

So the essence of the plan is between these two. It’s about establishing a path that you believe will overcome the best obstacles to get to where you want to be.

The elements of strategy are inspired by Henry Mintzberg’s Five Strategies Ps in his book Strategy Safari, combined with Roger Martin and AG Lafley, questions of strategy in their latest book.

Realize that planning is a creative and collaborative effort. Strategic planning allows you to explore team options. Try another option, cut something, repeat the idea and start again. Create your plan and get a deal on it.

Set up conference calls and invite your team to meetings. You can usually get a strategic canvas in about 2-3 hours. Groups of about 3-8 are best. Hold meetings with more than 8 people, but it is difficult to let everyone be heard. You may be better off breaking a large group into smaller, individual sessions.

Centralize strategic planning. The default size allows for about 6-10 adhesive points per area. If you have a large group, you may want to make the frame larger. (Do this first to avoid adjusting sticky notes in the frame later). Then lock the frame down.

For each of these six themes, create a space for creative inspiration and group exercises to help understand and prioritize the best ideas. These areas will surround the main plan in the middle. Here are my suggestions:

This exercise gives your team a quick understanding of the challenges and opportunities you face. Based on the boat metaphor: If your step was a boat made of sails, what would hold you back (anchors)? What will make it faster (wind)? You will need 30 to 60 minutes for this activity.

The principle of the roadmap is simple: most projects and efforts have repeated steps. Don’t recreate them all the time. Instead, use the card to focus on project discussions and make sure you don’t leave anything behind. This task takes about 30 minutes to complete.

This strategy is based on one question: Who do we want our customers to be? The goal is to look beyond the specific offer or amount of benefit you will receive. Instead, understand the impact of your service on customers. How can you change their lives?

For example, George Eastman didn’t just produce affordable and easy-to-use cameras in the late 19th century. He created a photographer. His invention allowed everyone to do what only a professional could do.

Here’s another example: Google is not just an advanced search algorithm, it allows everyone to become a professional researcher. Or consider eBay. Popular business platforms have created new entrepreneurs.
